City of Klamath Falls approves the construction of new Gospel
Mission "Life Skills Training Center & Emergency Women's Shelter"
The Klamath Falls Gospel Mission has announced that the City of
Klamath Falls has approved the lot immediately across from the Gospel Mission building for a new
“Life Skills Training Center and Emergency Women's Shelter”. The Current Gospel Mission
has been serving the homeless population in Klamath Falls since 1958, and has seen the success of
many through the hope it offers through Jesus Christ.
The current Gospel Mission building has served
the community well, although its capacity has been taxed to meet the needs of the homeless in
Klamath Falls. As the Mission has sought to improve its outreach to the homeless and its capacity
to effectively assist the people in regaining their footing with employment and permanent shelter,
the staff and the Board of the Mission saw a need fro a new building to accomplish this vision.
Through much prayer the doors have been opened for this vision to become reality.
At the May 2010 Gospel Mission Board Meeting,
the city's approval was announced and the Board of Directors was swift to act upon the next phase
of the building- drafting plans! In the months to come the Gospel Mission will be working with the
community to raise funds for this new building.
Gospel Mission Executive Director, Kent Berry,
commented on the this next phase of the Mission saying, “We are excited to see this vision
become a reality. The Mission has been a beacon of hope to the homeless of Klamath Falls and this
new building will help continue that legacy and give hope to those in need.” When asked how
the community can help, Berry said, “Pray for the building and overall outreach of the Gospel
Mission, and if the Lord leads you, contribute an offering to the building fund.”
